Inside Paul Simon’s office in The Brill Building.
Built in 1931, the Brill Building is the historical site where 1960’s music scene flourished with songwriters, publishers, and radio and record promoters bustling throughout. Here in this building, Paul Simon worked alongside Carole King (née Carole Klein) songwriting and cutting demos for recording artists then. The “Brill Building Sound” was dubbed to characterize the popular music that often had ties to building occupants, including Phil Spector and his “Wall of Sound”.
More information about the “Brill Building Sound” can be read at All Music Guide.
