Quoting a favorable review of Eva Cassidy’s work:
“A notoriously shy performer, Eva Cassidy had a somewhat stiff stage presence, but she endeared herself to her audiences by performing songs she obviously loved, combining elements of soul, gospel, blues, and jazz. Live at Blues Alley is an excellent showcase for her vocal talents and her ability to make even the most familiar tune uniquely her own.” by William Cooper, All Music Guide
Eva Cassidy covered several Paul Simon-penned songs, such as a live blues-inspired “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, a true to the original cover of “Kathy’s Song”, and a live acoustic performance of “American Tune”. The latter two songs were released posthumously on Time After Time (2000) and American Tune (2003), respectively.
However, this post spotlights Cassidy’s live rendition of Sting’s “Field Of Gold”. Turn up the volume and enjoy a breathtaking cover as you walk through fields of gold.
And Happy New Year!
